Christmas spicy cookies recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 whole eggs
  • 1 tbs yogurt
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 4 cups flour
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 1 tsp cloves
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt

Recipe

  1. Preheat the oven at 180 degrees Celsius or 356 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until pale and fluffy and the sugar has mostly dissolved.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time beating thoroughly between each egg until completely mixed.
  4. Add the vanilla essence and yogurt and mix until completely mixed.
  5. In a separate bowl, sift all the dry ingredients and whisk together until completely mixed.
  6. Using a spatula, fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients a little at a time until completely mixed.
  7. Wrap the dough in cling film and chill in the fridge for 15 minutes.
  8. Roll out the dough and cut into the desired shapes. Place on an ungreased baking tray and bake for 15 – 20 minutes or until golden brown. Cool and serve with tea or coffee.
