Karole Kasita makes statement during maiden concert

A breakthrough song marks the beginning of an artiste’s career but a successful maiden concert cements it.

In her five-year career, Musician Karole Kasita has had both, with the latter coming last Friday evening at UMA multipurpose Hall in Lugogo, Kampala, where she held her ‘Chekecha concert’.

Four years ago, the diva held an album listening party at Fame lounge in Kampala but the event did not meet her expectations as just a handful of people turned up. However, despite Kampala having over three events happening on the same day, her show was not a flop as by 9pm, the hall was half-full with an energetic crowd.

So energetic that they sang and danced along to every artiste’s song. Artistes such as Eddy Kenzo, Mickie Wine, Dax Vybz, Zex Bilangirangi, Fik Fameica, Nina Roz, Pallaso, Jamal, Victor Ruz, Carol Nantongo, Baninas, Vyroota, and Jose Chameleone, among others, also performed in support.

Unlike other concerts where the headlining act takes to the stage at 9pm, Karole Kasita’s first session started 15-minutes past 11pm, sending her fans into jubilation. Some stood so close to the stage holding placards of her pictures while others wore engraved t-shirts with her face on them. They cheered her on as she performed and several times, they loudly chanted her name.

With Karole Kasita’s background of starting out in a live band (S&S), it was only noble of her to have the band back her up for the two sessions during the concert.

Gyal A Bubble, one of her first songs since going solo was the first she performed before performing others including Mbeelamu, Obuwomi and You You. She also did a pretty decent rendition of Rihanna’s Shine Bright Like a Diamond.

Dressed in a different outfit, Kasita kicked off her second session with One Life, alongside Bryan Weiyz and Burn before inviting Spice Diana from the audience to perform for the audience. Before performing, Spice Diana applauded Karole Kasita for the courage to stage a successful concert. She then performed her famous hit Siri Regular where she was joined by Feffe Bussi on stage. This excited the crowd, mainly because of the ongoing rumours that Kasita and Feffe Bussi are dating. Together, they performed their latest collaboration, Ebyo Byoli and Kasita’s Muhammad Ali.

Kasita then ended the show by performing her other songs including Mwoto, Binyuma, Tetunazina, Chekecha with Vinka.
