UPC’s Aguti wins Dokolo by-election

Sarah Aguti Nyangkori, Uganda People’s Congress candidate was announced the winner of Dokolo by-election. The Returning Officer, Erikwaine Ngobi, says Aguti managed to garner twenty-three thousand forty- four (23,044) votes.

She was followed by NRM’s Janet Rose Elau who got fourteen thousand and one (14001) votes.

Aguti, a social worker and a graduate of social works and social administration from Uganda Christian University Mukono, gave her first shot to the contest in 2016, but lost to her former invincible secretary general, Atim Ogwal Cecilia Barbara who had crossed to Forum for Democratic Change.

Six candidates were contesting for the seat which fell vacant following the death of former MP, Hon. Cecilia Atim Ogwal on January 18, 2024.
