Rema Namakula impresses at Melodies of Love concert
A few minutes past 8pm, Rema Namakula, clad in a striking all-black outfit with silver patches made a grand entrance to the stage. She was driven in a black convertible right to the centre of the stage, which sent the audience into wild ululation. Few had watched such an entrance and here they were witnessing the beginning of what would turn out to be a long and enjoyable night.
The artiste did not waste any moment as she immediately dived into her first set, singing songs like Tonight, Katono and Juice among others, setting the pace for more enticing moments ahead. One of the unforgettable moments was when she appeared in a bedroom setting singing to her husband Hamza her Akafe Che song while he was seated on a bed.
During Namakula’s first session break, Irene Ntale, King Saha and Aziz Azion filled the gap and because the show was entirely live, they did not find it hard to deliver, going by their previous experiences singing live music.
Rema returned shortly after in a different outfit. Preceded by three motorbikes, the former Gagamel band singer came dressed in an all-red outfit. In this session, she dedicated her Banyabo song to her deceased mother.
“I want to pay tribute to mum Nabbosa. She sacrificed a lot and did not even have anything,” she said before the Maestro band started playing.
Among the songs she sung were Touch Me, Kukaliba, Loco, her collaboration with Nigerian singer Chike and Oli Wange before leaving the stage.
The emcee of the night Abbey Mukiibi then invited the guest of Honor, the Katikkiro of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga, to give a short speech. The Katikkiro said how he loves to be entertained despite the seriousness of his job.
During her last session, Rema changed into two outfits and dedicated this session to mostly collabos. She sung Gutujja with B2C, This Is Love with The Ben from Rwanda and then collaborated with Juliana on her Ampisawo jam. She then concluded the concert with Ngonze and Siri Muyembe.
The concert was a testament to Rema’s talent, powerful vocals, mesmerizing stage presence and the love she commands from her fans.
